Mini Movers

Mini Movers is our programme of weekly play sessions for ages 0 to 4, supported by BBC Children in Need.

The sessions are designed to support children’s physical, social and emotional development through soft play and outdoor learning play activities, while also boosting parents’ and carers’ wellbeing by bringing people together. For example, activities are designed to improve language acquisition, motor skills and social interactions.

Play sessions include soft play at Brendon Lawrence Sports Centre and outdoor play at Cherry Lodge in King Edward Park. Both soft play and outdoor play sessions include stories and song time and cost £1.50 per child per session. Sessions are often themed with activities including obstacle courses, colour sorting, jumping skills, space rockets, constructions, dinosaurs, farm animals, mud painting and autumn fun.

We also run Mini Movers sessions in local libraries and community centres working with local partners to deliver the sessions for their users.

You can book a place on our events and activities page.

Impact of Mini Movers

“I’ve never been to such a well-organised, well-resourced play activity – and as a mother of four ranging from 32 to 13 and a granny, I’ve been to hundreds!
The response to my grandson, who has additional needs, has been amazing with activities tailored to his needs and fantastic support for me. He has thrived at Mini Movers and made huge progress with his social skills.”

“Monday sessions are brilliant for physical activity and there’s always a well-thought-out theme. Wednesday sessions are all about being outside in the fresh air. Our daughter has made lots of friends at Mini Movers and I can see the positive changes in her confidence and emotional wellbeing.
It’s also great for me to get inspiration for activities I can recreate at home and interact with other parents. This is by far the most affordable play project we’ve been to, and the only one which provides different activities consistently.”
