The Renewal Trust

Volunteering

We’re always looking for more people to volunteer with us – whatever kind of volunteering opportunity you’re interested in. From supporting our range of regular community activities for children, families and older people, or helping out at a one-off event, to sharing a specific skill such as cooking, baking or translating. You could even choose to join the charity as a Trustee and share your unique lived experience.

However you volunteer, it will be a great opportunity to develop your own skills and experience, and be part of a thriving charity supporting communities in Sneinton and St Ann’s.

Volunteering can also improve your health and wellbeing, by providing social connection and a sense of purpose – knowing you’re making a positive difference to the lives of others’ as well as your own.

Trixie is still volunteering at 80 years young, supporting our monthly Chatty Cake Café.
“I enjoy meeting the people who come along to the Chatty Cake Café and also the other volunteers. I would definitely recommend volunteering – I feel I get a great deal from the experience.”

Volunteer as a Trustee
The Renewal Trust is governed by a voluntary Board of Trustees made up of volunteers from the community, public and private sectors who give their time to support and guide the charity’s governance and strategic direction. No prior experience of being a Trustee is required, as training, guidance and support is provided.

Trustee Luke Raddon Jackson shared:
“Becoming a Trustee for The Renewal Trust was a way for me to give back to the area that shaped me. The opportunity to contribute to projects that create lasting positive change in the community inspired me to take on the role.”

Volunteer as a business
We also work with local businesses by hosting regular or one-off corporate volunteering days – ideal for both team building and helping to achieve social and environmental goals. Volunteers from Bowmer + Kirkland recently pitched in to help us protect fragile hedgerows on one of our New Roots community plots at St Ann’s Allotments in Nottingham.

Helen Bedford, Social Value Manager at Bowmer + Kirkland explained:
“The volunteering day at was great. It was hard work but a great team building activity. Once we had finished, we had a massive sense of achievement and pride knowing that we had helped preserve such an important habitat for wildlife.”
