The closing date for voting is 24 January and the winning phrase will be announced on 25 January at the launch of ‘Place’ – our new community art hub at 25 Avenue C, Sneinton Market. Place will bring a whole range of exciting art and culture projects to the area, with the neon artwork being one of the first.
The idea behind the new neon artwork is to create a piece of public art that literally captures the voice of local people. It’s the result of a project we ran in the summer, inspired by a global public art project by Candy Chang.
that’s featured in over 70 countries. The project gave local people the chance to share their aspirations on a chalkboard wall at Sneinton Market, as they responded to the question “Before I die I want to…”.
We look forward to seeing which phrase is the public’s favourite!
