Meet our new Funding Director

We’re very pleased to announce that we’ve just appointed Emma Lucas as our new Funding Director.

Emma is joining us from Framework where she worked as the charity’s Business Operations Manager.

Emma will be responsible for fundraising at a strategic level, helping the Renewal Trust navigate and thrive in a changing and increasingly challenging financial environment for the voluntary sector, nationally and locally.

Emma has lived in Nottingham since 2001, after spending a decade in the Channel Islands, where she worked in the hotel industry. Since moving to Nottingham, Emma has worked in a variety of community roles involving fundraising. She started off as a Community Development Worker at Nottingham City Council, helping community groups to set up and survive, and found that she loved the fundraising aspect of the job.

Inspired by that, Emma went on to become a Development Officer at The Bridge charity in Loughborough, where she set up the charity’s fundraising service from scratch. Since 2009, Emma has worked at Framework in Nottingham, firstly as a Fundraising Officer and later as the charity’s Business Operations Manager.

Emma was inspired to join the Renewal Trust because of the work we do in Nottingham and the appeal of working with a smaller-sized organisation that supports local people and groups.

“I’d heard of the Renewal Trust as I also volunteer for a community play centre in Sneinton and I knew they were active in the area, but I didn’t realise quite how much the Trust does. When researching for the role, it became apparent there was a lot more to them than I thought. For example, I didn’t realise the Trust manages St Ann’s Allotments, which I love!

“I’m really looking forward to working with new people and supporting the Trust to be part of the local community for many years to come. If I can look back in 5, 10 or even 20 years’ time and see what a difference the Trust has made to people’s lives then I’ll know that I’ve been part of something amazing. I’m really looking forward to being the Trust’s Funding Director, it’s a new challenge and one I’m more than up for.”

It sounds as if Emma loves a challenge, both in her professional and personal life, with her hobbies including a love of being outdoors, in water, or out in the elements, from walking, swimming and outdoor concerts to picnicking in sub-zero temperatures!
