We’ve teamed up with outdoor arts company, Festive Road, to bring you something very special for Light Night on Friday 23 February.
Head to Green’s Mill in Sneinton for 5pm and we’ll treat you to a spectacular illuminated puppet display – absolutely free. To keep you warm, there’ll also be hot refreshments available to buy.
And that’s not all…
You’re also welcome to join in our free puppet-making workshops at Green’s Mill – at 12.30pm or 2.30pm on Friday 23 February. The workshops are suitable for ages 7+ and you’ll be able to make your own puppet – using recycled materials and glow sticks – with all materials provided free of charge.
To book your free place on a puppet making workshop call Jamie on 0115 915 6878.
And, if you’re going along to the Light Night celebrations on Sneinton Market Avenues anytime between 5pm and 10pm, you’ll be able to see a new neon artwork for Sneinton, created by and for local people, lit up for the very first time – at Place, 25 Avenue C.
The new artwork will immortalise the phrase ‘Be remarkable’ in neon – after 54% of people voted it their favourite phrase from a shortlist of three, during a public vote held in January.
The idea behind the new neon artwork is to create a piece of public art that literally captures the voice of local people. It’s the result of a live art event we ran last summer, as part of Nottingham’s Street Art Festival. The event, inspired by a global public art project launched by artist Candy Chang, gave local people the chance to share their aspirations on a chalkboard wall at Sneinton Market, as they responded to the question ‘Before I die I want to…’
The neon sign has been made by Nottingham’s Invicta Signs Ltd with funding from Nottingham City Council’s Nottingham Together fund.
