Want to have a say in art and culture where you live – or find out more about what’s happening around the city?
We’re launching a brand new project called Place – to bring art and culture of the very highest quality to Sneinton, St Ann’s and Mapperley – and everyone’s invited!
25 January, 4.30-6.30
Place, 25 Avenue C, Sneinton Market
The event will also include the launch of a book celebrating the recent Sneinton Pride of Place exhibition held in Sneinton by us and the internationally-renowned Caravan Gallery. Plus the chance to meet The Caravan Gallery’s Jan Williams and Chris Teasdale, who will be special guests at the event.
The Sneinton Pride of Place Project book features stories, photos and memorabilia donated by local people and everyone who contributed to the project is invited to take home a free copy of the book, with limited copies available to buy for £6.
Place is a new, community-led art and culture programme, which will include a whole range of exciting art and culture activities and events for the area, as well as free public artworks.
Local communities will be the driving force behind Place projects, with a community steering group developing briefs to commission artists, or getting involved in the organising of events and activities.
The Place hub at Sneinton Market will also be a one-stop-shop for local people to find out more and get involved with art and culture events and activities across the city.
Place will help to support local artists and up-and-coming talent, together with students and volunteers keen to gain experience of managing and producing arts projects and events.
A range of local arts organisations are involved too, including Nottingham Contemporary, New Art Exchange, City Arts, Dance4, Surface Gallery and Backlit Gallery.
Why not come along and find out more? We look forward to seeing you there!
