On Saturday 2 July the comedy of Shakespeare came to St Ann’s Allotments.
The performance of Midsummer Nights Dream – from Nottingham Playhouse and Lakeside Arts – was a wonderful afternoon of midsummer madness where the performers conjured up a world of star-crossed lovers, mischievous fairies mistaken identity, love potions, and a confused donkey.
We were joined by lots of local families, who all braved the sometimes not so midsummer weather, to enjoy this chaotic of comedy performed by just four performers.
Don’t just take our word for it, here’s what we received from one of the attendees:
‘Thank you for providing A Midsummer Night’s Dream performance today at St Ann’s Allotments. It was far and away the best live performance I have attended in recent years. My eight year old granddaughter and I laughed throughout. What a fantastic introduction to Shakespeare for her.’
Thank you to everyone who came and supported the event and thank you to the wonderful team from Nottingham Playhouse and Lakeside Arts.
